Minnesota coach Kill going back to hospital

NCAA Football Betting Lines

09/26/2011 - Minneapolis, MN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill announced Sunday that he will admit himself back to the hospital to try and resolve his seizure problems.

Kill collapsed and had a seizure on the field near the end of a 28-21 loss against New Mexico State on September 10. It's unclear when he'll return to coach the Golden Gophers.

"The seizures continue to be a concern for me and my family," Kill said. "Rebecca and I have made the decision to do what it takes to find a solution. I hope to be back to work soon, but we believe that taking some time away to get a handle on this is the right thing to do."

Minnesota football team physician Dr. Pat Smith said Kill suffered another seizure Sunday morning. He will be admitted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. for further testing.

"Coach Kill is determined to get this issue resolved," director of athletics Joel Maturi said. "We all want what's best for him, and his health is our first and foremost concern. I have full confidence that our football staff will get the team prepared while Jerry is away. We all want him back on the sidelines. But it's time to find a resolution."

The Gophers (1-3) are preparing to play at Michigan on Saturday.

Kill, who is a kidney cancer survivor, was hired by Minnesota last December after leading Northern Illinois to three straight bowl appearances.
