Lions re-sign WR Colbert

Football Betting Lines

05/07/2009 - Allen Park, MI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Detroit Lions re-signed free agent wideout Keary Colbert Thursday.

Colbert experienced a whirlwind 2008 season that began with the signing of a three-year contract with Denver prior to the season followed by his being traded to Seattle on September 16 for a conditional fifth-round pick in this year's draft. He was then released by the Seahawks on November 11 and signed with Detroit December 1.

The 26-year-old hauled in just 12 passes for 116 yards and one touchdown last season while splitting 13 games between the three teams.

Colbert spent his first four years with Carolina after the Panthers made him a second-round selection in the 2004 NFL Draft out of USC. His best season came during his rookie campaign with career-bests of 47 catches, 754 yards and five TDs while starting each of the 15 games in which he played. Over 68 career games, Colbert has 121 receptions for 1,540 yards and eight scores.

Also on Thursday, the Lions signed rookie free agent running back Antone Smith out of Florida State.
